Pretty Girls on otettu hyvin vastaan niin fanien kuin mediankin puolelta. Tässä pari arviota, jossa sitä hehkutetaan:
• Billboard: Like “bees to the hon-ayyy,” as Britney Spears sings on her new Iggy Azalea collaboration “Pretty Girls,” pop and pop-rap fans are likely to swarm this slick slice of electro-hop, which pulls off the blonde-bombshell pairing by playing to each of its artists’ strengths. Spears sounds more animated in her two minutes of action here than on the entirety of 2013’s Britney Jean album, toying with the speed of her vocal delivery while cheekily recounting her adventures as an untouchable sex symbol (“Every time I walk out of my house it’s like, ‘Hey baby!’/They don’t see me rolling my eyes”). 3,5/5
• PopCrush: Of the many good qualities of “Pretty Girls,” the greatest of them all is Brit Brit’s vocal delivery: Those swaggering verses especially, which vaguely recall the jazzy warble of “Mona Lisa,” are a far cry from the highly filtered (and questionably very non-Britney) vocals of Britney Jean. This is undoubtedly our beloved Brit Brit singing once again, especially as she launches into those fantastic ad-libs during Iggy’s verse toward the very end, which, for just the slightest few milliseconds, take us all time traveling speed right back to the beautiful Beltney days of 1999.
• NY Daily News: Summer arrives early with the release of a breezy new single from Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea. “Pretty Girls,” out Monday, finds the two pop tarts in warm-weather, party mode, in both sound and lyric. The rhythm mimics the hit that made Iggy the queen of last summer, “Fancy.” It has a similar, bass-heavy synth that pumps with attitude. Likewise, the lyrics find the women preening about the privileges of attractive women, in full show-off mode.
• Fdrmx: Britney’s vocal delivery on “Pretty Girls” couldn’t be more different from her moody approach to her Giorgio Moroder assisted take on “Tom’s Diner.” Here our “Toxic” siren is at her most sex kittenish as brazenly chants and even growls the lyrics. Spears takes mankind’s obsession with pretty girls into an otherworldly dimension when she ponders if the obsessed boys are from Mars, a subtle reference to her days in the iconic red leather catsuit on set for “Oops!…I Did It Again” as well as to the space themed music video Brit and Iggy shot for “Pretty Girls.” There is a sense of confidence and breezy energy to her delivery, especially on her improvised vocal runs and additional come-ons (SLAY BRITNEY, SLAY).
